Lets get caught up.

Herman's Rest, Grand Canyon

I'm home. It is so nice to be home again. Just Me and my Sweetie. This is where I feel her the best. It was a good night sleep cuddled up with my Sweetie pillow. Nice to just sit and not think about where my next stop is, or where to get gas, or pee. Looking forward to this day, my first day home. Got to water, thinking of giving Tweety a bath, and re-engage in living.

Thursday

Lets get caught up. Tuesday, spent my day in San Antonio to visit a one of my best friends. Told them I was going to take them out to dinner and they chose where. As it turned out, the restaurant they like was a brand new one, and the location wasn't on google maps yet. I must have drove 100 miles going to and fro finding them. Once found, we had a good dinner, and some good catching up.

Shared about Sweetie's memorials and all that happened. Sweetie's soul sister was sad and when I inquired why, she just wished that she could of been at one of them. Asked if she'd like a vessel of her ashes, and she brightened up and wanted it.

They have always struggled with material things, they are on a fixed income. Try to help out by sending them grocery money, especially around the holidays. Found that they need help, that they don't ask for. Anyway, I'm planning to help, like Santa. I told them what I was going to get them for Christmas, and it will before then. Sending them two lounge chairs, just have to figure how to send them and remove the old ones.

Wednesday, drove up the road a bit for the real reason I was in Texas, visit my friend and his wife. They had a MRI, and it shows her dementia. Mister and I got to talk about it alone, for Misses doesn't want him to tell me about it. She feels I'd be living it all over again with Sweetie. She maybe right, but this I know, Scripture tells me that if I comfort those with the comfort that He has given me, I will share His love to them. If I am to keep Sweetie alive in my heart, I have to give her away to those who need comfort.

Mister told me she is slipping away faster then they think she should be. The are both in their 80's and seem to have made plans for a life event like this. My job will be to be with Mister as long as he needs me.

While I was there, my coughing got real bad and having received a call from my oldest to tell me she tested positive for Covid, Mister said he had a home test kit, and we tested me. Yea, got the same results.

Back to my hotel, and to bed I went. Had a very bad night coughing and hacking all night long. In the morning, felt better, and was soon on the road again.

I'm home, and my neighbor has taken care of my mail for me. While I was gone, a steak package had shown up, so to thank him, took him dinner.

Going to call the VA, set up a covid appointment, see what they can do, and that will make my daughter happy.

Life on this, Road to a New Life, is full of more twist and turns yet to be seen. Driver and me are all smile as to what is ahead, for after all, we are Keeping My Shiny Side Up, C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless.

Not much to share today.

Right now, the beach, One of Sweetie's love.

Don't have much to say this morning. Spent time with Sweetie's soulmate. She is like me, making it slowly through time. I was sharing about how I spread her ashes. I could tell she was sad because of missing the event. Asking if she'd like some of Sweetie's ashes. That was the right thing to ask, and when I get home, part of Sweetie is going on a trip to Texas.

After my visit with these dear friends, went back to my room, and decided to make a couple of meetings, then back to the room  and bed.

My next stop is only a couple of hours away, and because of that, I just might make it home a day ahead of schedule.

Time to get going, talk tomorrow. Down the Road to New Life I go, Keeping My Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless. Arthur.

Leaving on a jet plane.

 Now it is just me.

This morning, I realized that it is the second month, 3/3, of Sweetie's passing. Last night, while listening on the old radio, a different   version of the song "Leaving on a jet plane." came on. Bring sung by woman, don't know who, and as I was singing along with her, that swelling of Sweetie's passing began to build, and it was as if she was telling me good bye all over again. Even now, as I recall the event, I have tears in my eyes. I know it is OK for  the pain to remind me of what I've lost. Tears are good.

Left Pensacola on Sunday and drove to Houston for a visit on the way home. A sweet couple and were very happy to open their home up to me. They have a beautiful home, almost out of a furniture show room.

Interesting note, they married right out of high school, divorced, remarried, had children, and when both spouses passed, remarried.  They have their original wedding bands, both were saved by a relative.

It was especially special to hear what they went through, grieving their spouses. They encouraged me to take my time, not to rush into anything.

Monday and Tuesday

Not much to say, just mainly a lot of driving. Just heading down the Road of New Life, Keeping my Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless. Arthur.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
