A place to stay and apple turnovers.

Smile Sweetie.
Things are looking good. Looks like I've found a place for Sweetie. After dropping her off at daycare, I went over to this facility to talk with the manager. I've been through the tour and found the place to be very comfortable. While I was waiting for the manager, a gentleman who brings in his dogs for the clients to pet and walk was there and I had a chance to talk with him about the place.

The first thing he said was breath. What did I smell? Nothing. I remember when we had Sweetie's mother in a state run facility and the when we would walk in, the smell of urine just smacked you in the face. This place smelled wonderful. He told me about the nurses and the cook. Put together his opinion and what I could observe, it seems like a good choice. Almost as a clincher, while we were at the grocery store, guess who was three? That's right the dog man. We spoke some more without tipping my plans about what was going to happen.

During the interview, the manager was taking notes on how I was caring for Sweetie. I just babbled on and on. Talking about CBD, Stress Relief Lotions, how I applied it, about her sundowners, daycare, and we got along great. My biggest fear, worry, and concerns is leaving her there. Trusting Driver on this one. So far, it seems like an Easter Egg here.

After making all these arrangement, headed for the golf course, and there wasn't enough time to play a round, so I spent some time on the driving range. I need to do that more often. I know if I'd just spend one day a week on the range, my game would improve. Playing and practice are two separate activities.

I've found something that Sweetie just loves. When we go to lunch at McDonald's, I got her one of their apple turnovers. She just looked at it, and she started crying. She thought it was the best she had ever seen. So, now I get one every time we are there. We've had it now for 3 visits and it is the same reaction. Man, what a surprise Easter Egg, when I find something that she will enjoy with vigor.

As for the rest of the day, it went OK. In the evening when we head for my meetings, she is getting more nervous and clinging. The same questions over and over again, and just when I think she is going to calm down, it starts up again. When we get to the meeting place and walk into the room, she sees and remembers the people, relaxes and has an enjoyable time. Then back to the car for the same broken record questions. It could be the darkness of the evening, or just another slip down the road to Dementia Town. Think its a combination of both.

So, time to get going. Thursday is a do nothing day, so my imagination juices need to get started. We were given a new jigsaw puzzle last night, so that is something we can get started on. We finished the last one a couple of days ago, so might as well get going on this one.

Sun coming up, Diver is at the door, and I need to get my tennies on and head out the door. Wondering what adventures lay ahead as we motor down the Road to Dementia Town. As always, Keeping our Shinny Side Up. Remember, if your path leads you into a tunnel, there is always an exit out into the sunshine, where you will see the sun bouncing off your Shinny Side. God Bless.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
