A big smile.

Inside of Diamond Head.

Did not know that Diamond Head is a volcano. Just never thought of it. I thought it was a large hill. Forgetting that all the islands in the oceans are formed by volcanos. This was an accidental find. We were heading to the other side of the island, when I saw the sign leading to the inside of the volcano.

The next discovery was that Diamond head became an observation lookout. After December 7th, the island defenses heightened, and since Diamond head was the highest point on the island, lookouts and guns were placed there. Just one of those never mentioned footnotes in history.

Today is going to be another pushing the limits of Sweetie's understanding. I have an appointment at the VA and she will have to endure coming with me. Today is one of those days that having someone to stay with her, or take her someplace until the meeting is over would be nice.

Sweetie seems to be sleeping more. It seems that she gets worn out easier. I tried to play some golf yesterday, but the breeze was too much for her, and she got cold. Coming home, she just wanted to wander around the house, up and down stairs, finally crawling into bed upstairs for a nap.

It was in the evening that was the surprise for me. She went to bed early. And stayed there. She is sleeping more and more these days. Also, I've come to the conclusion that at meal time, her getting up and leaving is a sign she is done with that meal. So, I'll fix one more bite of food on her fork, so when she comes back, she will eat it, then when she leaves again, I clear the table. I know that she will eat the small piece of cake I put out for her the next time she comes back, and dinner is done.

There are mornings that I don't want to get her up. It is the mornings that when I walk into the room, she is just beaming with a big smile. She doesn't know who I am, she is just happy to see me. I love these mornings. She is happy to do what needs to be done, and is helpful in getting them done.

I hope Driver has some extra rest areas for us today. I'm pretty sure that I'll need them. For it is just another day on the Road to Dementia Town, as we Keep Our Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv ya, and God Bless.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
