Smiley girl.
It was a day that we had smiles, and lots of them. There are those days that her smiles seemed to be few and far between. No matter what I do, she is stingy with them. Not this day.
She is light hearted, she is warm, and speaking her Dementiaese with smiles and loving gestures. Learning on how to respond is always a challenge. I have to improve my listening skills and interpretation of her words and body language. It is a challenge at the best.
Tuesday
We start out very good. Sweetie seems to be in high spirits this morning. The only bad thing is the weather. It is cloudy and windy.
The weather isn't good for me to take Sweetie out into it. So, it is switch up the plans, and prepare for a day inside.
I cannot believe my luck this day. She is in such a good mood. Her smiles are back, and almost a touch of sorrow in them. It is as if she knows she has been away, and is now back. I'm sure that getting her empty has a lot to do with it.
So we need to get outside, so off for our walk about we go. This time she is engaging me, we say our silly rhymes as we walk. I sing to her my makeup songs for our walking, and she smiles. The joy is back, if only for a short time.
She is worn out when we get home, and heads for her nest. This time she curls up on my side of the bed and goes to sleep. I wonder if she is telling me how much she misses me, and needs me. I'll never know. This I do know, I'll have to make the bed before we retire for the night, to make sure she sleeps on her side of the bed.
Dinner is a little bit of a struggle. I have learned to slow down when she doesn't want more. It helps. But she does eat and that is the name of the game.
Dinner done, TV watching done, we head off to bed earlier than normal. Maybe I'll get some extra time in LaLa land.
We made it through another day on the Road to Dementia Town. All the time we Kept our Shiny Side Up, C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless. Arthur
