Never judge the day at the beginning.

Pretty in Pink

I have a feeling that you will see this picture from time to time. I think it captures her and her personality just right. I love the smile she has on her face, the color of the background, and her being at rest.

As more and more of these days, her days at rest, come to pass, I'm learning to embrace them as quickly as they appear.

Sweetie can be like a bear coming out of hibernation, irritable, snapping, not knowing what to do, at the same time, not doing what I want her to do. This is the backdrop that makes the good times more precious everyday.  I thank my Driver for the difference maker, CBD.

Thursday

I have a dental appointment this morning, and have arranged for one of my ladies to come and sit with Sweetie while I'm gone.

When I woke Sweetie up, and got her ready for the day, I spoke about my appointment this morning, and that her friend was going to stay with her. What I find amazing is just how much her understands.

There are times when I ask her to bring me the glass she is using, so I can wash it. It might take a second, then she remembers and brings it to me. Then there are times, her bear time, when nothing I say makes sense to her, and of course, what she says to me doesn't make sense to me either.

The dentist appointment was a fiasco. I had made the appointment the day before, because I have a crown loose and want it fixed. After arriving, and waiting 30 minutes, I had to ask when I was going to be seen.

"Another 30 minutes, we're running behind."

That will not do, waiting in a room for an hour after my appointment is BS. Canceled my appointment, made one for Monday, with a ringing in their ears on how I expect to be in the chair and worked on when I arrive. To say I was pissed, and feed up with Doctors, and Dentist and waiting is to say the least.

With some time to spare, I headed over to one of my old working buddie's home to show off Tweety. It was fun, gave one of his neighbors a ride, and then back home to get Sweetie.

I had made arrangements with DIL to come over so she could see and meet Tweety.

We stopped and got some ice cream, and headed over. When we got there, DIL was thrilled to see what we had.

"Its beautiful, gorgeous!" she exclaimed. You see, she is a car girl and just loved it. The grandboys were just as excited as well. Phones out, taking pictures, I was just beaming with pride.

Back inside, we had ice cream, conversation, and Sweetie took a nap. A great visit.

Home, diner, and a meeting. Then home again, and watched a little TV, then to bed. As we said our prayers, Sweetie ended it with an "Amen".  Good ending to a  good day.

Driver's advice is "Never judge the day at the beginning. It is how it ends that makes it a good day." How true. We may not have a good beginning, or a good middle, it is the ending that sets the mood. For after all, we are on the Road to Dementia Town, with miles and smiles ahead. For are we not driving with Our Shiny Side Up? C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
