The elixir of calmness.

Sunday

Sunday, the Lord's day, the birthday party for grandson #3, and our shower day. There are many items on our agenda today. Just how will they go?

That will depend on what I do and say. How I set the mood for the day is important for Sweetie. She is the same, as far as what is going on around her. She will, most of the time, just go with the flow. Then, as we know, when I don't keep her medicated, she goes off on her own.

That is when my experience with her pays handsomely. The motto is, keep giving her the medicine of life. It is the elixir of calmness. It is what makes our time left manageable.

If it wasn't for the pandemic, I almost think of taking off and heading for California to get some beach time. It would be a good get away for me, and maybe for her. She might remember some of the things we'd do, at the same time, as soon as any event is done, it would float down the river of forgetfulness, never to return again.

Sweetie cannot remember what she did 5 minutes ago and then again, she will recall those old memories of days gone bye.

Sunday

Big day ahead, much to do, and so it is time to get her up and moving. As I sit next to the bed, and we chit chat about what this day will bring. The birthday party and what I plan on dressing her with.

Did something new, I got her pink pants out and then her purple shirt and her pink shirt in trying to decide which one to use. "Which one would you like? The purple or the pink?" "Pink" was her answer.

She surprised me. Then again, I've said that Dementia doesn't mean dumb. She is so straddling that fine line of now and yesteryear. Aware of today yet lives in the void of between the years gone bye.

My goal is to keep her medicated so we can go and have a good time. Taking Tweetie, so she will need my help getting in and out. Lets keep her in a good mood until then.

Time to go, pulled Tweety out so I can open the door all the way, to give her easy entrance into the car. She climbs in almost by herself. Ta Dah, in.

We stay long enough for cake and opening the presents. #3 is having a great time, center of attention. He is loving everything he gets. Had to laugh because he got a Tyrannosaurus Rex costume, an animi cape, and our radio controlled car. Which I found out he already had a smaller on, but that didn't lessen his enthusiasm, this one is bigger so it is different. Yea.

Gifts done, cake ate, and time to go. Sweetie is showing signs that her Hemp oil is wearing off, so our time is coming to an end.

Did a abbreviated walk about, this time, it was my turn to call the walk, legs and hips hurting.

Home for the evening, dinner, watch some TV, cookies and to bed.

The Road to Dementia Town was a pleasant one. Driver found the right lane, the right speed, and took all the right turns for us to get the most scenery possible. As we watch the hill go by, seeing the autumn colors start they tinging of the trees, we went. Keeping our Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless.   Arthur.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
