Knows who I am.
Got locked out of the house yesterday. The garage door wouldn't work. For the past couple of days, the remote in the car wasn't working, and I was able to use the pad to raise and lower the door, so I wasn't in a big hurry to troubleshoot the problem. It was only when we returned from grocery shopping that nothing worked, and I didn't have a way to get into the house.
Live in the solution, not the problem. For the longest time, I've been living in the problem. Getting mad doesn't solve anything. Feeling sorry for myself doesn't solve anything either.
This attitude of living in the solution has much to do with the way I take care of Sweetie. Her mental state that is where the battle begins. The simple fact that once she is awake, I have no idea just where she is.
I have a plan for the day, and it is how I adjust that plan to fit into her mind, so that we can enjoy the day together, that is what is most important. I find that it is the simplest solutions that work the best. Try to remember the K.I.S.S. method. Keep It Simple Stupid.
Thursday
Had a surprise this morning. I was met with a happy Sweetie. She was eager to get out of bed and come with me. She hasn't been this happy in a long time.
Into the bathroom, and on the potty, she sat. Told her I had some stuff to do, and she was willing to sit there. The training is starting to pay off.
It was into the shower. Turning on the charm to get her to allow me to wash her privates is working. By telling her what I'm about to do also wards off the blocking and taking my hands away from her body.
We have a full day of activity ahead of us. So, breakfast is essential. Then dressed for outside, and be gone.
When we are backing out of the garage, I can't get the door to go down. Out, try the pad, won't work. Then with trying over and over again, it goes down. And later and the door will be the villain again.
Off we go to the bible study. I remember that there is a radio station that plays Christmas music in November. Sure enough, they are doing it again. With Christmas music filling the car, me and Sweetie singing along with the tunes, we head for the church.
When we get there and out of the car, the lite breeze that was blowing when we started this journey, isn't a lite breeze anymore. That means that there will be no golf today.
Afterwards we headed out to do some grocery shopping, instead of playing golf. So far, the solution of the day is do something else that isn't planned. Groceries not golf.
Shopping is the next item on the schedule, so we head for the grocery store. With the shopping done, headed home. This is when the problem becomes even more evident. The door stays down. Time to live in the solution. Frist, try to open a window in the back of the house, and that doesn't work either, for it is locked. What next on the list of solutions? Keys are needed to get into the house and I don't carry keys with me because we go in and out through the garage. So, where do I get a set of keys?
I gave each of the kids a set of keys in case of an emergency so they can get into the house. And it just so happens that I brought my phone with me. I usually leave it in the house. Making a call, we head out to DIL's to get the key. She cannot find the set I gave them. No problem, call the youngest daughter. She has her set and is home.
Go over to her house, get the keys, and she has another old set that may or may not be from for our house. I'll try them all.
Upon returning, guess what, the door goes up. I'm thinking there is a simple solution to this problem, and just what it is, I'm not sure. Thinking, what has changed? What has changed? The only thing I can think of is the garage door pad's battery is dying. That is the only thing that can be a variable. Why not give it a try? Won't hurt anyway because it hasn't been changed since it was installed.
On the way home from the meeting, stopped at Walgreen's to get one. A 9volt battery, and because of the supply chain problem, they only had one 9volt on display. A $17 dollar battery, and it says that it will last 10 years. Biting the bullet, we got it.
Got home, installed the new batter, and it worked! Lights up, door up and down, it seems that the solution was a new battery. Because it seems that living in the solution is the better then living in the problem. Looking for the simple things instead of making a mountain out of a mole hill, look for the simplest solution, and start there.
With this victory under my belt, we get ready and head for bed. Holding hands, Sweetie joins me in our nightly prayers. What a blessing she is.
Driver had to be on His toes today. With construction, detours, and lane closures, the Road to Dementia Town was a challenge. As He navigated around all the road conditions, we were still able to Keep Our Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless. Arthur.
