My Sweetie Pie
Sweetie Pie, oh Sweetie Pie. won't you be my Sweetie Pie today? This is part of the singsong that I sing to her as we walk the mall.
It makes her smile, it makes her eye light up, and sometimes she will try to sing along with me.
These are the times when we are good, and all is well in the world. There are birds singing, butterflies on the flowers, and all is well.
It is when the clouds come it, sometimes they are first soft fluffy clouds, then as they build, they become dark gray storm clouds.
So far, I've been able to find shelter and ride out the storms, then again, I know that soon I won't be able to find shelter.
Monday
This is the morning that I'm going to get a head start on her CBD. Seeing that she is awake, I come in and she is smiling. Greet her, and tell her that it is time for her Happy Medicine. She opens her mouth and I squirt her first dose in.
I tell her that I'll be back soon, and she seems fine with that. A short time later, I'm back for number 2, and then again to get her up.
All seems well until the faithful moment when I need her to move her legs. She fights me, but not as bad as other times. Soon she is up.
After we get done in the bathroom, breakfast is next. She, as always, eats a good breakfast.
Today, she is coming with me to the golf course and with this decision, it is time to dress her. On come the extra sweat pants, and with it her heavy coat.
Once we get there, I'm so glad I bundled her up. There is a good breeze, which brings with it a wind chill factor.
Right off the first hit, I loose my ball. Didn't even see where it went. Not a good sign for it looks like I'll be seeding the course with lost balls today.
I do have my moments. Sink a long putt on number 4 for a birdie, and with a par on the 9th hole, giving me a 3par, 1 birdie day. The rest of the holes, lets just say, they were pauses in-between the cheering holes.
Home, lunch, and Sweetie snuggles down onto her nest for a nap.
Her newest behavior, is when she awakes, she is trying to make the bed by stripping it, and bundling the sheets and blanket into one big ball. If I try to help her, she is as possessive as a dog with a bone. So, I watch and wait for an opening to get her out of the room. To break the spell, sort of to speak. Then I can go back in and remake the bed for the next time.
It is my meeting night, so I make the best of getting her up, ready, fed, and medicated. She is in good spirits as we head for the meeting.
All goes well, have a good meeting, and back home. Get her ready for bed, turn off the lights, and hop into bed with her. Thanked God for a good day, a kiss, and to sleep we went.
Not a spectacular day, just a good normal for being on the Road to Dementia Town. A easy day to Keep Our Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv Ya, and God Bless. Arthur.
