I'm the person she trust.

Back at the zoo.

As we were driving back home, I turned to Sweetie and said, "I've had a real good day with you today." and she smiled. That just about does it, the summary at the beginning.

We had a busy day, busier than normal, yet at the same time a normal day. Up, breakfast, golf, home for lunch, off to the zoo, and then doing some grocery shopping, then home. Made dinner, and then bed time. Doesn't sound much like a day to write home about and at the same time, for us, it was a day out of the house, busy, and at the end, where did the day go.

At the zoo, Sweetie did get tired and we had to sit down for awhile. Which was nice. We have a big bag of fish food, which is also bird food, and I took a container full of it. I just enjoy sharing it with the kiddies. With their mom's approval, I offer the children an opportunity to get a handful and feed the ducks. It is feed down syndrome. I give the kids some, and then they give the ducks some, everyone is happy, and the mom's don't have to keep digging for quarters to feed the food vending machine. If just for a short time, everyone benefits.

I'm returning to giving Sweetie her CBD oil again. Not as often as before, once in the morning, and again around 3 in the afternoon. She does well with those two doses, and she seems to track well.

"Track well", a term I have decided to use to describe Sweetie's ability to know her surroundings and who I am. As of now, I'm the person she trust, and that is a big deal. She no longer helps with doing the dishes. What we are doing now is I wash and dry, give the dish to her and help her put it away. It works for both of us, she is with me, and I'm helping her help. Smiles all around.

And there He is, with the biggest smile of them all, Driver. Yep that was a big Easter Egg moment. He tells me to keep her busy as much as I can, they are building a castle of memories. Landmarks that I can see on our Drive to Dementia Town. Keeping our Shiny Side Up. Can you see your memory castle from the Road to Dementia Town? Keep looking, and Keep the Shiny Side Up. C ya, Love Ya, and God Bless.

Dementia, a spoiled child.

My Angel.

One of the things that can be taken for granted is my teeth. We both have all of ours, and so far, no dental problems. That is what came out of my dental visit yesterday. I do have some problems looming, but with just a little bit of extra care, they can be avoided.

Had to take Sweetie with me to the "room" and she did fine for most of the time. It was in the closing that she got irritated and wanted to leave. Which was done in due hast.

After the dentist, we grabbed a hamburger at McDonald's and headed for the golf course. We had some thunderstorms earlier in the day, and was hoping that we wouldn't get rained on. Had a OK round, met another couple that we had played with, and finished the game with them.

Sweetie was behaving strangely, and I ran her home. She wasn't tracking right, and had lost all knowledge of who I was, and where we were going. I got her down for a nap when we got home, hoping that she would re-set when she got up. It didn't work, she was just not right, if you know what I mean. It was when she wanted to go outside, that I knew it was time for some CBD. I gave her a dose, and out we went, for a ride. During our ride, she began to come around, and soon was holding my hand and smiling. That is when I knew we'd be OK for the rest of the evening. To be on the safe side, I gave her an extra dose of Hemp Oil when we got home.

All in all, it was a good day, I think the trip to the dentist set her off. I think I'm going to figure out how to set up my phone for some type of show that she can watch while I'm busy and can't pay her the attention she is used to. As we all know, what works today, may not work tomorrow, and what won't work today, works tomorrow. That is life with Dementia, a spoil child that doesn't know what it wants, but it wants what it wants now.

That is why I depend on my Driver everyday. I may come here and whine and complain, or bitch, moan and complain (BMC) and it is here where my Driver sits behind me and sees my heart. We then head for the car, me in the passenger's seat, and He is behind the Wheel, and all my cares are left at the curb. At the end of the ride, I have a choice, I can head into the day without those cares from yesterday, or I can leave them at the curb. It all depends on me as we head down the Road to Dementia Town, Keeping our Shiny Side Up. How about you, kicking your leftover cares to the curb, they will still be there when you get back from your journey down to Dementia Town, Shiny Side Up, it's your choice. See you Later, Love Ya, and God Bless.

Even with Dementia, life can be good.

Simple things that life offers.

I've used this picture before, but it shows me what is special about the simple things in life. The trip to the zoo, where this picture was taken, eating ice cream, which cannot be done now, and just enjoying life. Each day, the simple things that seem to go away, things that I never thought in a million years would disappear, have.

Yet, even with Dementia, life can be good, and to be able to say that, it is good, too. We have worked hard to be where we are today, finically, home, car, debt, and where does that leave us? It leaves me with less things to worry about, a blessing. I don't have to worry about making it from the first of the month to the end of the month. I can enjoy what pleasures we do have left without wondering if tomorrow will bring with it a calamity. I just have to stop feeling sorry for myself, and keep doing what is right.

I'd like to tell you about two things that were real blessings. I decided to buy Sweetie some new jeans. When this retirement/caretaking adventure started, she was wearing size 12 skinny jeans. Yesterday, I bought her two pair of skinny jeans, size 8. She is loosing weight, and that concerns me, but again there isn't anything I can do about that. The blessing came when she didn't fight me on getting the new jeans.

Second, got a call from Share your Care, the people that help with daycare for Sweetie, and in the conversation, I was asked about my support group. They are in contact with other couples and there is a man that is looking for help. I told them to give him my phone number and I'd talk with him. This is a special Easter Egg, for if I wasn't going though this, I wouldn't be there to help someone else go through it together.

Yes, I had a good day, and my Driver is smiling. He knows that on the Road to Dementia Town, even the detours have value. As He holds me up, I too can help another. Valuable lessons I've learned riding with my Driver, as we motor down the Road, with our Shiny Side Up. C'mon, you can join me. Get your motor running, Shiny Side Up, and here we go for another day of adventure, on the Road to Dementia Town. See Ya, Love Ya, and God Bless.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
