The Great Easter Egg day.

I Love You.

Morning my friends, yesterday was a great Easter Egg Day. From the simplest things like a wet pull up in the morning. Sound gross, but from the dehydration from the day before, a full pull up is a good sign to start the day.

Its the mornings with Sweetie that are the most enjoyable times I have with her. Her Dementia brain is as charged as it is going to be, and she is a joy to be with. For me, it is the same old thing, day in and day out. For Sweetie, it is all new to her. I used to think it was an act, now, I know better. As we sit on our old couch, watching the sun over the Sandia's, listening to the finches and doves tweeting and hooting, seeing her see something and she points it out to me. These are going to be the Easter Eggs I'll remember as time goes on.

Had a great day on the course, I'm learning not to make a discouraging remarks about bad shots, just shrug them off and keep going. When it comes to my emotional health, it effects hers as well. If I'm happy, she's happy, if I get upset, she senses that to, and reacts accordingly. Oh, the things I learn about myself while I care for her.

I have to tell you something that was another Easter Egg. Told you about the daughters and the ring. The one who had the ring and the one that wanted it. After that was all straightened out, I then gave the Oldest her mom's wedding ring. We went over yesterday and gave it to her. I had an old ring box, and put it in it. When she opened the box, her face was what I'd hope to see, and the tears that came with it. Makes me misty eye as I tell you about it.

These are the things that my Driver has prepared for me. Around every curve, just over the hill, there is peace, love and comfort waiting for me. He knows where to take me, and what I need, even when I don't know what I need or want. He is here everyday without fail, and so with that, time to find my cool sunglasses, and head for the car. You know, it seems shinier today then yesterday. Cool, off we go, down the Road to Dementia Town, with our Shiny Side Up. May you find what you need down the road, around the curve, or over the next hill, just remember to Keep your Shiny Side Up as you motor down the Road to Dementia Town. A good day is awaiting. Love Ya, God Bless.

Heavy weight boxing match.

She's back.

I am happy to report that after a short trip to dehydration, Sweetie is back. Spent most of yesterday handing her water in a bottle, a cup, a glass with a straw to her and having her take "big sips" when she drank. I've begun to mix Gatorade with the water so she gets something extra then just water.

If it isn't dehydration, its her medication, or her CBD, taking her potty, taking car rides, going on walks, even watching TV can become a chore. Then, when I mix in my stuff into the day, the day becomes very busy. Sometimes I'd just love to have 24 hours of solitude.

Mr. Sundowners came a visited for a short time in the evening. Was able to bid him a farewell with some CBD, and Stress Relief Lotion. I am so happy that I found this combination 1-2 punch. Before I was using it, I'd spend hours with Mr. Sundowners and it was like a heavy weight boxing match. Now, when he shows up it is just a little sparring match.

Going to try to play golf again this morning, and hopefully things will back to normal. Even when we are on the course, I still cannot relax, knowing that any minute Sweetie will get a visit from Mr. Sundowners. One of the things that I 've noticed is if I'm playing with other golfers, and spend time with them and not pay attention to her, she gets irritated with me, like I'm not paying attention to her and she doesn't like that. Of course she cannot tell me, I'm just a reader of her body language.

Because of her inability to tell me what is going on with her, her emotions, what her body is doing, I'm a constant reader of her body, face, and reactions, the whole picture and trying to make sense of what she wants.

I know my Driver doesn't have that problem with me. There are happy mornings, sad mornings and just mornings. It doesn't make a difference what type of morning it is, He is always there, waiting for me to get in, put on my cool sunglasses, buckle up, and "away we go." Off, down the Road to Dementia Town, and if necessary, flip me over, so my Shiny Side is Up. There are days when it isn't very easy to put my Shiny Side Up, I need help. I hope your Shiny Side is Up today. See you on the Road to Dementia Town as we travel together. Take Care, God Bless, and as always, Love YA.

Dry as the New Mexico Desert.

We're back.

I am happy to report, we're back and OK. It seems that I was correct it was that Sweetie was dehydrated. When she got up yesterday morning, she was as dry as the New Mexico's desert. So I spent the day pushing Gatorade and water in her. Her appetite was way down, but I did get her to eat something, a Easter Egg day all in all.

Toward the end of the day, and because we didn't do anything, Mr. Sundowners came and paid us a visit. It was the same old drive, to get out of the house to help the "boys".  I've found that if I just stand at the only door she can get outside and block her path, it is the easiest solution to her getting out. She will ask questions, yell, and cry, then walk away and wander the house.

The easiest answer for her boredom was a car ride. Told her where I was going and ask if she wanted to go with me. Yes, was her answer, and once in the car, a shot of CBD, buckled in, and off we went. Soon, Mr. Sundowners got out of the car and Sweetie got in.  It was a great call.

In life it seems, that we go from problem to problem and the fun times just don't last as long as I'd like. As I head for the week ahead, there is a situation staring me in the face already. Friday, my support group is going to a park and having a face to face meeting for the first time since the pandemic. Now I'm looking for someone to watch Sweetie so I can attend. The one daughter that I was hopping would help, has a prior engagement, and the others are working. So, I'm counting on my Driver to lead me to a solution.

Today is a new day, and I'm going to spend most of the morning on the Road to Dementia Town. It may not sound relaxing, and if you think that way, you don't understand the rest and re-charge I get being in the passenger seat and listening to my Driver. I've learned to trust and obey, for there is the answer. I may not like the answer at the time, but in the end, it is the right answer. I'm out of here, got my cool sunglasses on, it is going to be a bright day, buckled in, and down the Road to Dementia Town we go. Driver knows the way, as we drive, with our Shiny Side Up. We sure could use some like-minded company, so why don't you join us, heading down the Road to Dementia Town, Keeping your Shiny Side Up. Have a great day what ever you do. Love Ya, and God Bless.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
