Mission accomplished.

I miss this lady.

We were suppose to get some rain yesterday morning. Well, for once, the weather report was somewhat right. We got rain, then it turned to snow. It snowed for about an hour, and then like good New Mexico weather, the sun came out and melted it all away. I enjoyed  watching the big snowflakes fall.

I was able to get Sweetie up and into the shower right off the bat. It was a battle, but not much of one. Washing her hair was tough, she didn't like the water getting into her eyes, and it didn't matter how much I tried to help, it wasn't enough. What was good, was I accomplished my mission.

Was a good time to put more heat on her shoulder, and get her to take the aspirin. I think I'm seeing some improvement in her using her right arm, especially when we eat. That is good news, or Easter Egg, which I prefer.

Yesterday was a sleep day for Sweetie. After the shower, I stripped the bed, and later when she wanted to go back to bed, it wasn't made, and I had to convince her it was OK to sleep like it was. Again mission accomplished.

She got up again for a short while, then went back to bed, this time downstairs, until dinner. When I got her up for dinner, it was time to put her night pad in, and with a minimum of complaint, also got that done. After dinner, the same scenario, had to get back to bed. And that brought her day to an end.

A day of rest, that is what my Driver calls it. Rest for her, and for me. For I get to be alone with Him, the car, and being on the Road to Dementia Town, rest is a big accomplishment. He pours His love and energy into me, to renew and refresh me as we travel down the Road to Dementia Town, with our Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv ya, and God Bless.

Do what is right

Christmas in Calif.

There was a time when we would make those plans. The one for travel, to see the kids and granddaughters, to spend time at the edge of the continent, and enjoy the season.

Those days are gone, not so much that Sweetie couldn't handle the travel time, it is my fear that she would wonder off into the dark forest of Dementia, and I wouldn't be able to get her back. The idea of being away from home some times frightens me.

I'm starting to spread bottles of CBD around the house. I've put a bottle in the bathroom upstairs. That way, I can get her to take some when I get her into the bathroom to change her pullups. Or even, when I wake her up. Dementia seems to be a 180degree attitude and it doesn't matter what I'm trying to get her to do. If I say, we have to turn right, she wants to turn left, when it comes to her balance medicine, she refuses all the time. That is when I know she needs it so we can have some smooth time. Then again, I know I've caught her at the right time when there isn't any struggle to get her to take it.

About her shoulder. I put some heat on it, and am now giving her two low dose chewable aspirin to help with the pain. It seems to be working. She seemed more comfortable using her arm at dinner. Hooray.

Today is going to be her shower/hair washing morning. I use her scratching and dirty finger nails as clues to when it is needed. I know it is going to be a battle, it has to be done. The benefit is going to a couple of almost carefree days.

Did the last of our Christmas shopping. The cost of shipping this gift was equal to what I paid for it. Right now, it is nice, being at this stage of our life. We have a great debt to income ratio, and even when the cost of something seems high, it doesn't bother me that much. Just take it all in stride. The rewards of the gift will always be more than the cost.

Got to play a little golf yesterday, on a whim. The UPS store isn't that far from the course, so we slipped over, and was able to get out. Didn't play the full round, Sweetie was getting cold, and I didn't want to push it. What I'd pay for her getting cold wasn't worth anymore time on the course. Read the systems, weigh the cost of her happiness, and do what is right.

Do what it right, regardless of my feelings. That is what my Driver tells me. Delay your happiness for that which you know is the right thing to do. He's right. When I do that, the happiness that I was expecting has been greater then what I was expecting. There can be joy and happiness as we travel the Road to Dementia Town. All I have to remember is to Keep my Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv ya, and God Bless.

Spiritual battle.

Meteor Crater Az.

Maybe I shouldn't be looking at these pictures of Sweetie and me. For I can see how she has faded over the years. This was about 3 years ago, and now when I look at her, I can see how this disease has ravished her. Her face is full and she is just as beautiful as she can be.

We had a good day, it was a day that I was able to keep both of us busy. I got busy and cut some limbs off the tree in the back yard. Limbs that made it difficult to work under it. If there is a bright side to Dementia, it is giving me the last word. Sweetie would never of let me trim the tree like I did. For her it would have been an abomination to even think about it.

Now for the next couple of weeks, the job of cutting up the limbs so they will fit into the trash is something we can do together. I tried it and didn't have her dressed warm enough. She quickly went back into the house, she got was cold quickly. Dementia gets cold real fast, and takes its time in warming back up.

There is something going on with her right shoulder. She is in pain and can hardly move it. I was hoping that it would heal itself, but it is getting worse. I'm going to apply some heat therapy on it. I started yesterday, I'm hoping that I can continue without too much pushback from her. Dementia just will not let me take care of her, it is almost like a spiritual battle. Me on one side, trying to help, take care of her, and Dementia is on the other side, blinding her to the help she needs. I was able to get her to take some low dose aspirin for the pain, it seemed to help.

Have to report on dinner, she ate well. Thought I'd try some chili. Just fried up a hamburger patty, cut it up into bit size pieces, spooned the chili over it, with tater tots and cottage cheese. She just went for it, with gusto. Going to do that again. Also, got Red Velvet cake of dessert. Again, with many of "I don't know how to do this." it quickly disappeared from her plate.

Driver was full of wonders yesterday. Scattering Easter Eggs about, and they were so easy to spot, it was just a fun day. On the Road to Dementia Town, Keeping our Shiny Side Up. C'ya, Luv ya, and God Bless.

A fitting farewell.

When we were young. I've been rummaging around and found this picture of Sweetie and me. We had been married for about a year when this...
